Firefighter Recruitment Now Open

Benton County Fire District 4’s career firefighter recruitment process is underway. The first step is firefighter testing through National Testing Network (NTN). Testing will be open Sept. 1 through Oct. 1. Candidates interested in joining BCFD4 are encouraged to review the testing process and requirements now so they are prepared to get started.

Recruitment Timeline

The anticipated timeline for the 2026 firefighter recruitment process is below. Dates are subject to change.

Sept. 1 – Oct. 1: Firefighter testing
Complete required testing through National Testing Network (NTN).

Oct. 2 – 9: BCFD4 application period
Candidates who have completed the required NTN testing and meet the minimum qualifications, including current EMT certification, may submit a BCFD4 application.

Oct. 3: Candidate Lunch & Open House – CANCELLED
The Candidate Lunch & Open House has been cancelled. This optional event is not part of the candidate evaluation process and its cancellation will not affect applicants.

Beginning Oct. 10: Interview scheduling
Qualified candidates will receive information to self-schedule an interview.

Oct. 19 – 23: Candidate interviews

Beginning Oct. 24: Conditional offers
Selected candidates will move forward in the conditional offer process.

By Jan. 13, 2027: Final offers
Final offers are anticipated to be extended no later than Jan. 13, 2027.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following requirements at the time of application: hold a current EMT certification, have successfully completed the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT), and have completed the required written testing through National Testing Network (NTN).

Why BCFD4?

BCFD4 operates from three stations and responds to more than 2,300 calls each year, including mutual and automatic aid with neighboring departments. Firefighters work a 48/96 shift schedule and participate in daily training, emergency response and station operations as part of a professional fire service team.

Members of the district also serve on specialized response teams, including:

  • Swift Water Rescue
  • Technical Rescue
  • Incident Management

These assignments provide opportunities for firefighters to develop advanced skills and participate in complex emergency operations throughout the region.
